I am sure you are all aware of the concerns about the flu, particularly the H1N1 virus. I want to share with you some of the policies and procedures I am implementing to try and protect the health of the students and teachers of the HRDS.
Effective immediately it will be the responsibility of each HRDS teacher to:
- Ensure wipes are used on the remotes and other items in the classroom including teaching materials.
- Wipes will be in all the cars. Instructors will wipe down the steering wheel and all commonly touched areas in the car between lessons and at the end of the day.
Additionally, I want to inform all students and parents that:
- Any student who shows up to class with any cold or flu-like symptoms will be asked to leave.
- Teachers are instructed to cancel any driving lesson if they show up for the lesson and find that the student is exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms.
- Any teacher who exhibits cold or flu-like symptoms will be asked to leave work.
- The cancelling of a lesson or the removal of the student is completely at HRDS’s discretion.
- There is the potential that due to teacher illness we might not be able to provide a scheduled class or driving lesson. Back-up plans are in place, but we can not make any guarantees.
- Cancellations due to health concerns might preclude a student from taking their driving test on a scheduled date.
I will be doing everything possible to protect the health of our students and teachers.
I hope you agree with my approach and will understand and support any decisions I make, even if they cause you some difficulty or disappointment.
If you anticipate that these procedures will cause a problem for you please let me know and I will be happy to make arrangements for you to receive a refund.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
